Great food and service. We chose the large tasting menu and the variety was very nice.

Let me begin by saying that I am a sushi enthusiast. I was told by many that this is regarded as one of the best sushi restaurants in Stockholm. Naturally my hopes were very high. I was utterly disappointed. First impression when entering the restaurant was quite positive. Clean looking place, by first glance. However, service staff was hanging in the back room and took a while to observe me and let me make an order. I chose the 13 piece mix (lunchtime), which included fish nigiris and rolls with shrimp. When going to the toilet, I noticed that there was a lack of proper ventilation in the kitchen as well as the staff not maintaining proper hygiene and order on surfaces. This was an obvious red flag. Toilet door was broken, which also tells about sloppyness and improper attention to detail. After a while, I received my first plate, the fish nigiris. To my shock, the waitress said: ”no need to worry about soy sauce and wasabi, it’s all put in the nigiris”. The idea of sushi is that it should be clean and simple. You should be able to taste the rice and fish separately, not drown them in seasoning. I also wonder if this was a way to cover the lack of fresh ingredients for lunch sets. The rice was of good taste, however consistency was terrible and the pieces fell apart due to the pre-added sauce, making the appereance seem awful. The worst nightmare was about to start. Never in my whole life, have I experienced what I am about to talk about next, before. Not cheap or expensive places. The pieces of fish had bones in them, as well as slimy non-clean parts. The tuna tasted like it had almost gone bad. It is absurd to even have to dream about a sushi place, especially a reputable one, to have bones and poor quality cuts and ingredients in their food. I mentioned this to the waitress, who just said: ”you can get new ones”. Obviously I did not want more poor quality sushi. The next plate with the shrimp was even worse. It was a mushy mess covered in some sauce and spicy chili covering and ruining the whole taste of the rolls. I stood up and left the table. And for those who think I’m just trying to badmouth them, please read the review by Liyan Zou. He had the exact same problem with bones in the sushi. The fact that this happened again even after such a review is just crazy. Very unprofessional. I don’t talk bad about sushi on purpose, this is the first negative sushi-related review I have ever given. But never have I been as disappointed as with this place. Minako, the best sushi bar in Stockholm? Definitely not.

I’ve had omakase two times before here and it was absolutely the best thing I’ve ever tasted. Today I decided to have 13 bites for lunch, they first served the nigiri bites and it was absolutely mouthwatering, you just wanted to close your eyes and enjoy the journey thru every bite. Later they came with the spicy maki tuna rolls with deep fried shrimp, there was a LOT of sauce on them which I can understand some may find unpleasant but I thought it was okay, not the “wow” effect but it had a nice crisp to it and was very filling. Quick summary: The best food I’ve ever had. Will def come back.

Update 2022: Good value for price, my friend thinks the sushi is a bit too wet. —————————— Renovated recently so now it has more seats. In the recent visit we tried full tasting menu, which includes a lot of different kinds of fishes, two chirashi, a tamaki roll, soup and desert. Fish are very delicious and prepared by chef with love. Chef is very knowledgeable and very nice to talk with. Best sushi tasting menu in Stockholm. Highly recommend to fish lovers.

Quick summary: -amazing selection of high quality fish and even wagyu meat with fresh wasabi -worth the price and you get real full with omakase at the bar. My wife was struggling to eat the last piece -very friendly staff and informative of each dish -don’t judge their omakase with takeaway or lunch as it’s a huge difference I was very lucky to get a seating in the last minute on Wednesday and they were very accommodating even though we have a 3 years old child which I was scared of tbh. They were so kind to him and the chef even offered him some sushi and icecream which was very kind of him. Each dish was well prepared and thought was put into the selection as well as the taste orgasm planned. I sadly took yuzu tea which didn’t go quite well with omakase. That was my only let down. We even had a hard time finishing it all and very pleased with what we paid. I think this is the most price effective luxury sushi you can have in stockholm. The staff was so professional, well behaved and welcome each guest like in Japan. We are really looking forward to this place in the future. Everything was close to perfection except for the drink menu but sadly I don’t drink alcohol while driving so can’t judge on that. I recommend very highly this place for sushi enthusiast. Keep up the good work!

Small jewel in the capital of Sweden. Amazing quality sushi paired with superb service. Some highlights of their omakase include uni, unagi with caviar, ankimo, chūtoro with hon wasabi, and even homemade ice cream!

Absolutely incredible! I’ve been around the block a few times and I would lie if I say this is not the best sushi I’ve eaten in my entire life so far ? Service, food and ambiance 11/10. If you’re looking for sushi in Stockholm look no further, this place is a true Japanese Omakase experience in the heart of Sweden’s capital. Thanks a lot for all the incredible evenings filled with taste explosions in my mouth ?
